Terms of Use
These terms describe use of the guides, illustrations and tools provided by Tips for Backpacking.
Plan your own trip
The site provides general educational information and planning tools. The planner calculates totals from your entries and marks missing values. An example or a completed checklist is not a safety assessment. Check current forecasts, closures, permits and rules with the land manager. Confirm that your route, equipment and plans suit your group and conditions. Our illustrated terrain is fictional and must not be used for navigation.
Use and share responsibly
You may read, link to, and print our pages and use or share your own plans for personal, noncommercial purposes. The site name, logo, original illustrations and written materials belong to Tips for Backpacking or their respective rights holders. Please obtain permission before reproducing or reselling our original materials, except as permitted by law. Respect other users and avoid activity that interferes with the service.
Saved plans and third-party information
Plans are stored in your browser when storage is available. Download a backup of any plan you want to keep. The availability of gear, rental prices and local conditions can change. Confirm those details with the provider or official source. External links are subject to the other site's terms and privacy practices.
Availability and responsibility
We may update, correct, or remove content and tools. The site is provided as available, without a guarantee of accuracy, completeness or uninterrupted operation. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Tips for Backpacking is not responsible for losses caused by reliance on the site's information or by loss of locally saved plans. Nothing here limits rights or remedies that cannot be excluded by law.
